While visiting Peru last week, Elder Clayton, Elder Montoya, and I had a unique opportunity to have lunch at the home of the Archbishop of Arequipa, Monsignor Javier del Rio. We had a fascinating discussion about grace and works. I found Monsignor del Rio to be a humble disciple of Christ. It was a real treat to be in his home.
On the same trip, Ruth and I also had a wonderful opportunity to meet with the missionaries of the Peru Arequipa Mission. I was thrilled with their faithfulness and diligence. President and Sister Johnson are brand new in that mission, but they are doing so well and their consecrated service is inspiring to me.
